We are so proud of the five Charters' students who were presented with their Gold Duke of Edinburgh awards at Buckingham Palaceon 16 May. There were speeches by The Earl of Wessex and Johannes Radebe of Strictly, who told the award holders “Don’t dream big. Dream huge.”

Gold DofE at Palace 2022

Achieving a Gold award is a fantastic achievement and takes determination and commitment to complete all the required elements.

The Gold award requires individuals to:

1. Spend 12 months Volunteering.

2. For Physical and Skills they must spend 12 months on one and six months on the other.

3. They also have to complete an expedition for four days and three nights (plus an acclimatisation day) which must take place in ‘wild country’.

4. Finally, there is also a Residential section – staying away from home for five days and four nights doing a shared activity with people they don’t know.

Very many congratulation to our students. We are extremely proud of their achievements and their names will be added to the new honours boards which are being created for our Main Hall.
