Employers and Universities have said they look for 5 core attributes essential for employability and life in standout students: leadership, organisation, resilience, initiative and communication. The Edge is a framework for schools to develop and accredit these attributes with a website for students to log their achievements in and out of school.
PiXL EDGE QUALIFICATIONS
At Charters School we believe that it is vitally important to give every student learning opportunities across a broad curriculum. We also believe that there is great value in developing the softer skills which are needed in everyday life, which is why the PiXL Edge programme was developed by one of our past Headteachers, Mr Richard Pilgrim.
Now in over 1500 schools and colleges, the PiXL Edge programme is a framework which develops and accredits the attitudes, attributes and skills essential for employability and life.
STUDENTS WILL QUALIFY AT THREE LEVELS
- Level 1: PiXL Apprentice (mainly Year 7 to Year 11)
- Level 2: PiXL Graduate (from Year 9 to Year 13)
- Level 3: PiXL Master (Year 11 to Year 13)
At each level there are a variety of approved activities that students can undertake for each of the key attributes, the number of activities that need to be completed varies depending on the level. The activities are rated Apprentice, Graduate or Masters according to their duration, the size of the team involved and the number of people exposed to the activity.
The PiXL Edge website is a way for students to log their achievements in and out of school under each of the five core attributes of Leadership, Organisation, Resilience, Initiative and Communication. Student login details will be provided by their Form Tutor – this login is unique to them and can be linked to their Google/Facebook account. Once a week we will provide some time where students will be working on their progress and updating their activities, mostly this will be in tutor time. They will also be able to access and edit their account via a mobile PiXL Edge App that can be completed at any time at home or out of school hours. Students will find lots of information regarding PiXL Edge in the Student Handbook.
