NEWSLETTER -24th APRIL 2026

It’s been another fantastic week in school, with opportunities both inside and beyond the classroom helping our students to grow, achieve and succeed.
Our Year 10 students have spent three days this week taking part in work experience placements. This is a hugely valuable part of their education, giving them a real insight into the world of work and helping them to develop key skills such as communication, teamwork and problem-solving. Experiences like this allow students to begin thinking more clearly about their future pathways, whether that be further education, apprenticeships or careers, and help them understand the importance of the knowledge and habits they are building in school. We are incredibly grateful to the employers who have supported our students and helped make this such a meaningful experience. Thank you to all the parents and Mrs Hicks who have done an incredible job in organising the opportunities.
In addition to the work experience several Year 10 students were also taking part in their expedition as part of their Duke of Edinburgh’s Silver Award. Well done to all who took part, carrying their packs for three days and camping. I am sure their were a few blisters, staff reported that the groups were very positive and determined to get ‘the job done’
We are also delighted to celebrate the success of our Year 10 girls’ football team, who have been crowned East Berkshire cup champions. They played very well as a team overcoming Sandhurst School in the Final at Ascot UTD ground to win 2-1. This is a fantastic achievement and reflects not only their skill and determination, but also their commitment to teamwork, resilience and representing the school with pride. Sporting success plays an important role in school life, building confidence, promoting wellbeing and fostering a strong sense of belonging within our community. Well done to all the girls who have played in the team this year.
Well done to all of our students for their continued effort and enthusiasm—we are very proud of you.
We also hosted our Local MP, Jack Rankin today who spoke to Year 12 students about the importance of understanding politics and getting involved by using their voting rights when they are 18. He was also interviewed by the student’s staff running he school newspaper ‘The Charters Chronicle.’
Year 12 students went to the UCAS Discovery Conference this week as part of their preparation for life after Charters. The conference had a series of lectures as well as exhibitors across a wide range of universities to help students start to galvanise their thinking about the next stage if their education, whether that be at university or starting apprenticeships.

Help Make the Summer Fayre a Success
Charters School Literary Festival & Summer Fayre will be taking place on Saturday 4th July, 12:00pm–4:00pm! This is set to be a fantastic community event, bringing together students, families, local businesses, and community groups – all in our beautiful school grounds. Funds raised will go directly towards supporting the school and enriching student experiences.
We would love your involvement in a few ways:
- Artisan Marketplace: If you run a small business and would like to be part of our artisan marketplace, pitches are available for £50. This is a great opportunity to showcase your products to a wide audience.
- Volunteering: We are looking for volunteers to help set up before the event, run a stall during the day, or help pack away at the end. Your time and support will make the day run smoothly and ensure everyone has a great experience.
- Donations for Prizes: If you have a business and could donate a sizeable item for our Summer Draw or Silent Auction, it would be hugely appreciated. While we’ll ask for tombola items closer to the event, at this stage, any prize donations, sponsorship, or creative ideas to make the day extra special would be fantastic.
If you can help in any of these ways, or know someone who might, please email us at [email protected] with your details.

SCHOOL BIRTHDAY / UNITY DAY MUFTI

Thank you to all those who wore mufti yesterday as we celebrated the school’s 68th birthday with our annual Unity Day.
The event is an opportunity to recognise our heritage and raise funds for our Unity Fund - over £900 has been donated.
It was wonderful to see so many staff and students wearing red, white and blue, and we thank all those who have already donated £1 via ParentPay.
If you have not yet done so, and you are in a position to help, please make your donation over the weekend.
We thank you for your support.

HOPE FOOD SHARE

The Hope Church food share takes place each Tuesday from 12pm-1pm.
The items include mainly fresh food and bakery items donated from local supermarkets. The food is at the end of its shelf life (but still perfectly fine to eat!) and would otherwise just go to waste. Bring a bag to fill up, stop for a chat and a cup of tea (and cake!!) and warm up in the church. ALL welcome, no voucher/referral required.
Hope Church, Sunningdale, The Hope Centre, High Street Sunningdale, (next to Nag’s Head).
