Year 12 students recently attended the UCAS Discovery Event at the Farnborough International Exhibition Centre, gaining valuable insight into their post-18 options.

The trip provided an exciting and purposeful opportunity for students to explore a wide range of future pathways. With access to up to 100 exhibitors, including universities, apprenticeship providers, and employers, students were able to engage directly with experts and gather first-hand information to support their next steps.

Mr Metson, Head of Year 12, highlighted the importance of the experience:
“Year 12 students had an enjoyable and purposeful time at the UCAS Discovery Event at Farnborough International Exhibition Centre. The opportunity to listen to Post-18 pathways talks and speak to a wide range of providers was an important aspect of the extensive Post-18 pathway provision we have in place.”

Throughout the day, students attended informative talks, asked questions, and began to shape their ideas about future careers and study options. For many, it was a chance to turn uncertainty into clarity.

Hannah, a Year 12 student, shared her experience:
“The UCAS Discovery Event was an amazing opportunity for us as students! It was incredibly informative and useful in educating us on our pathway options, and it was an exciting chance to speak to different universities and apprenticeship employers.”

The visit forms part of Charters School’s ongoing commitment to supporting students in making informed decisions about their futures. By engaging with real opportunities and industry representatives, students are empowered to take confident steps toward their goals.

We look forward to seeing how this experience shapes the aspirations and achievements of our Year 12 cohort.
