HOUSE Scarecrow Competition

THE IDEA
As part of the Literary Festival & Summer Fayre on Saturday 4th July (12–4pm) we are creating a Book Character Scarecrow Trail around the school site.
Visitors will follow a map around the grounds to find scarecrows based on famous book characters.
Each scarecrow will hold a letter of the alphabet. When visitors collect all the letters, they will complete a hidden phrase on their trail sheet.
Completed sheets will be entered into a prize draw at the event.
Your challenge is to design and build the best book-themed scarecrow to be included in the trail.

HOUSE COMPETITION
This will also be a House Competition, so every entry can earn House Points!
Judging will be based on:
- Creativity
- How recognisable the book character is
- Effort and construction
- Overall impact
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

Choose a Book Character
Examples could include:
•Harry Potter
•Matilda
•The Mad Hatter
•The Gruffalo
•Alice in Wonderland
•The Cat in the Hat
•Percy Jackson
•Sherlock Holmes
•Or any other well-known literary character. - Build Your Scarecrow
You can use materials such as:
•Old clothes
•Cardboard
•Fabric
•Straw or paper stuffing
•Paint
•Recycled materials

Before bringing it into school:
•Take a photo of your scarecrow
•Upload the photo via Teams (details to follow)
This will be used for House judging and records
- Bring Your Scarecrow to School
All completed scarecrows must be brought into school - Week Commencing 29th June
We will then position them around the school ready for the Scarecrow Trail during the Summer Fayre.
