News round up (4)

This week's assemblies showcased the excellent musical talent in the school, as students who will be performing in the Winter concert next week, played.  It was certainly an invigorating way to start each day as the sounds of drum solos, Bon Jovi and the Jazz band filled the air.

In addition to the students playing in concerts, we launched our kindness initiative across the whole school.  We are very much aware that the overwhelming majority of our students are very kind and thoughtful all the time, and that sometimes these actions get missed across the school day.   All students have been issued with a card for staff sign when they see, hear or experience an act of kindness from a student.  When their card is full, they can then hand it into their tutor and be awarded 10 or 25 achievement points, depending on how many boxes they have completed.  In taking this approach, we are confident that we will capture more kindness across and recognise the sections of the students.

This week, we are launching the Christmas Draw, one of our annual fundraising events.  We are hoping to raise £7000 this year to add towards a bid we have in place for tiered seating in the main hall.  The seating is part of an ongoing upgrade of this area of the school. The Main Hall is used for a large number of school events and having this seating will help to transform the area.  More information can be found below. In buying a ticket, you will be part of that transformation.

Please do let us know if your child is taking part in activities outside of school, this helps us develop a better understanding of individuals and in return, helps the tutors and other staff build on the positive relationships even more.

Attendance is a focus, as we enter the cold, wet dark months, when it is easy for motivation to drop for students -can you please make sure that they are in school every day even if they are feeling a little under the weather.  Being in school creates habits that stay with individuals for a lifetime, which help them be more successful.  There is a great deal of research that highlights this.

CHRISTMAS DRAW 2025

X template (6)

This year, we are aiming high, and we would be grateful for your support in helping us achieve something truly special. Our hope is that our Christmas Draw can raise £7,000 to begin transforming our Main Hall into a space that will genuinely inspire our students. This project will make a meaningful difference to their school experience, and with your help, we can bring it to life.

Here’s the remarkable part:
If every parent or carer purchased just one £5 Christmas Draw ticket for each of their children, we would reach our goal.
One ticket is all it takes to contribute to a project that will benefit the entire school community.

We are also delighted to offer a fantastic selection of prizes, including:
• West End Theatre Tickets for two
• Go Ape Adventure for four
• Sparkling Afternoon Tea for two
• Indoor Skydiving for four – sponsored by H Prestige Estates Ltd
• Vineyard Tour for two

Whether you are treating yourself or hoping to win a special gift for someone else, every ticket purchased brings us closer to creating an exciting new space for our students.

Thank you for supporting the Christmas Draw if you are able to.

Together, we can make a real and lasting difference.

Thank you.

Tickets are £5 each and are available on ParentPay

MAKE A WISH COME TRUE!

X template (9)

A huge thank you to everyone who has already donated to our 2025 Wish List! So far, over £2,000  has been donated to buy resources that will truly enrich daily life for students across all subjects and departments are getting very excited!

This year’s wishes range from a realistic “breathing” comfort puppy to help soothe unwell students, to a brand-new distortion pedal to inspire creativity in the Music Department.

We’re also delighted to include wishes from our Tutor Teams for the very first time. They’ve seen how a simple five-minute game can spark laughter, build confidence, and strengthen the sense of community within their Tutor Groups. To help them continue this brilliant work, we’d love to provide 10 games for each year group from Years 7–11. The cost to fulfil a full year group’s wish is £123 — and every contribution makes a difference.

  • Parents and carers can grant the wish of a single game.
  • Local businesses may like to sponsor an entire year group for just £123 (Please contact our Marketing Manager if you have a business that could help)

If you would like to support this year's Wish List, you can make your donation - either via ParentPay or by using our secure online giving platform CAF Donate -  and then just let us know the wish you have granted by emailing marketing@chartersschool.org.uk

If you’re able, please consider supporting this year’s Wish List – and helping us shape joyful, memorable moments for our students.

Thank you for your continued generosity & for making our wishes come true!
