Festive fun at Friends of Charters School Wreath-Making Evening

The Sixth Form Common Room was awash with Christmas cheer on Wednesday as the Friends of Charters School hosted their much-anticipated inaugural fundraising event -  A Wreath Making Workshop — and what a wonderfully festive evening it turned out to be!  

Parents and friends of the school gathered for two hours of creativity, community spirit, and plenty of seasonal sparkle to create beautiful fresh wreaths.  With a glass of fizz, generously sponsored by local estate agent H. Prestige Estates Ltd, and a mince pie or two for sustenance, our 35 enthusiastic crafters spent a relaxed, social evening getting to know each other as they conjured up their masterpieces.

There was an abundance of amazing spruce that had been kindly donated by the Crown Estate, along with some fabulous foliage from our own school grounds plus an array of embellishments so that everyone had all the materials needed to craft a stunning festive wreath.

The results were nothing short of impressive: from traditional evergreen arrangements to bold, contemporary designs, each wreath was as unique as its maker.  Everybody compared creations, shared tips, and snapped photos of their handiwork. It was great fun!

Whether guests came with friends or arrived solo and made new ones along the way, the evening truly captured the spirit of the season: Join the Fun. Support the School. Create a Community.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, or supported the event in any way. Not only did attendees leave with beautiful wreaths for their front doors, and a new friend or two, but FoCS raised over £900 which will directly support students at the school.

Here’s to a festive start to December and to many more FoCS community events that bring the whole Charters community together!  FoCS will be serving drinks at the Winter Concert next Wednesday, and are always open for a chat if you would like to find out more.  Then pull on your silks for an evening of laughs the next FoCS fundraiser - A Horse Racing Evening on 6th February, tickets for which will be available in the new year.

All proceeds from the Friends of Charters events go towards enriching the lives of students at the school, providing opportunities and additional resources to make their time at Charters a truly exceptional one.
