Confidence Through Creativity
Students across the school are enjoying a series of fantastic musical assemblies this week, designed to showcase the remarkable talents of our performers and to highlight the many benefits of learning a musical instrument.
Head of Music, Mr Hoare, opened each assembly by reminding students that everyone, at some point in their lives, will need to show confidence; whether giving a wedding speech, presenting in the workplace, or simply expressing an opinion that differs from others.
Learning an instrument helps to build valuable life skills. The resilience required to tackle a challenging piece of music, the determination needed to practise it until perfected, and the courage to perform in front of others all contribute to students’ personal growth. This week, as students stepped out onto the stage, we saw not only mastery of their instruments, but mastery of their nerves, too.

Performances ranged from Sam Fender’s Hypersonic Missiles to Bon Jovi’s Livin’ on a Prayer, lifting the spirits of staff and students alike.
To conclude the assemblies, the school’s Jazz Band delivered a wonderful rendition of Killer Joe by Benny Golson. Featuring an eclectic mix of instruments - including piano, saxophone, trombone, clarinet, trumpet, drums, bass and rhythm guitar - they performed with style and energy, leaving the audience with a spring in their step.

Our thanks go to Mr Hoare and to all the music students who embodied Motivation, Curiosity, Confidence, and Resilience so brilliantly throughout the week.
