The House Photography Competition is back, inviting students once again to pick up their cameras and share the world through their eyes. After the success of last year’s theme, 'Being Me', this year’s challenge shifts from the personal to the collective with the inspiring new focus: 'My Community'.

Last year’s 'Being Me' competition celebrated far more than technical skill. It became a heartfelt showcase of identity, creativity, and self-expression. Students from every year group bravely turned the lens on themselves, creating self-portraits that revealed not just what they look like, but who they are.

In the foreword to the collection, the spirit of the competition was beautifully captured by Mr Holmes who said, photography has the power to reveal “not just what we see, but who we are.” And indeed, the submissions reflected a remarkable spectrum of emotion and individuality. Some images were bold and adventurous, others quiet and contemplative. Whether experimental or deeply personal, each one was authentically “Being Me.” The courage, imagination, and honesty shown by our students turned the competition into a moving celebration of the beauty of individuality and we created a moving installation on the wall in our STEM block as a lasting reminder.

This year, students are encouraged to turn outward and explore what community means to them. The theme 'My Community' offers endless creative possibilities - from the people who shape our daily lives, to the places that bring us comfort, to the moments of connection that make us feel part of something bigger. We’re hoping to see entries that celebrate the vibrant, diverse communities that help define who we are.

To encourage participation, every photograph submitted will earn House Points, with an additional 10 House Points awarded to the winning entry. Whether students are seasoned photographers or simply curious to try something new, this is their chance to be imaginative, observant, and expressive.

Submissions: From Monday 8th December

Deadline for submissions: Monday 12th January at 3pm.

We encourage students to grab their camera, look around them, and capture the moments that make their community special. We can’t wait to see the world through their lens.
