NEWSLETTER - 14th NOVEMBER 2025

News round up (4)

A very warm welcome back to school after the October half-term break. We hope you all had a restful and enjoyable time with family and friends. The weeks ahead promise to be busy and exciting, with plenty happening both in school and through our extracurricular trips and activities.

This week, we marked Remembrance Day on 11th November with our annual service, beautifully led by our students. It’s always a deeply moving occasion, as our whole school community—nearly 2,000 of us—comes together to reflect on those who have served, and continue to serve, across the Commonwealth. The shared silence across such a bustling site was truly powerful and a reminder of the respect and unity within our community.

As we head into the second half of the Autumn term, we would like to remind families to refer to the NHS guidance on school attendance and illness. While our attendance remains slightly above the national average, we haven’t yet reached our pre-COVID levels. Our aim is to get there together, and we really appreciate your continued support.

If you have any concerns or if there are challenges affecting your child’s attendance, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’re here to help and to work alongside you to ensure every student is in school as much as possible giving them the very best chance to thrive and succeed in school.

Community Event
This week saw our first ever Community Connections Evening, where we invited local businesses, charities and youth organisations into school to network. This was the first time that some of the groups had met with each other so they were able to discuss how they can support each other in providing support for the local community. Throughout the evening, guests offered their time, expertise, and resources to support our school community. We received some wonderful offers from parents and professionals willing to share their career journeys to inspire our students, and people happy to practise conversational French and Spanish with learners to boost their confidence. We’re also incredibly grateful for the generous pledges of financial support, which included funding for a new set of netball dresses and prizes for our Christmas Draw, which included an afternoon tea voucher and West End show tickets.

Thank you to all those organisations that attended, and also to the parents who came along as well.  It is heartening to see and hear how much community support there is in our local area, having a direct impact on our families in the local area, providing support and opportunities that might otherwise not be there.

The Hope Church food share takes place each Tuesday from 12pm-1pm.

The items include mainly fresh food and bakery items donated from local supermarkets. The food is at the end of its shelf life (but still perfectly fine to eat!) and would otherwise just go to waste. Bring a bag to fill up, stop for a chat and a cup of tea (and cake!!) and warm up in the church. ALL welcome, no voucher/referral required.
