During the final four days of half-term, 29 A-Level Geography students embarked on a trip to Iceland. This incredible country, shaped by tectonic activity, brought to life many of the topics studied in class. Students saw volcanoes,  including the famous Eyjafjallajökull, explored glaciers, and even walked behind waterfalls.

They were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights, experience real molten lava at the Icelandic Lava Show, and enjoy a breathtaking simulated flight over the island at FlyOver Iceland. The trip concluded with a relaxing visit to the iconic Blue Lagoon.

Daniel and Imogen have shared their reflections on this amazing experience below.

'Going to Iceland was easily the most amazing school trip I have ever been on, the opportunity to explore a diverse landscape that is so unique is to be cherished, some of my favourite activities included: a visit to the lava show, trips to the most wonderous waterfalls, a view of the Northern lights and a bathe in the Blue Lagoon. As a Geography student I can see natural processes in action, giving me examples to refer to if needed. Finally, I have to offer a massive thanks to the teachers who organised and managed the trip as it was excellently planned which lead to an outstanding experience'-  Daniel

'The Iceland trip was fantastic specifically the 'secret' waterfall hidden behind a crack in the mountain. We also saw the northern lights which was both exciting and stressful as we all ran outside to take photos'- Imogen
