As most Year 13 students settle into the rhythm of A-Level coursework, Ollie is juggling a schedule that would challenge even the most disciplined among them. Between university visits, an intense training programme, and the pressures of studying, Ollie has still found time to excel on the national stage - proving once again why he is one of the school’s standout sporting talents.

This September, Ollie competed in the English Schools National Combined Events Final, taking on the gruelling decathlon. Against the very best athletes his age from across the country, he delivered an exceptional performance, finishing 12th individually. His efforts also helped secure a silver medal for the team.

Despite his success, Ollie’s season is far from over. As winter approaches, he is shifting his focus to the indoor circuit, where he hopes to qualify for the England National Indoors U20 Finals in the 60m hurdles. Although hurdles aren’t traditionally his strongest discipline, Ollie sees the event as his best route into national finals this year—especially following his impressive results in the 400m hurdles at English Schools and the England Outdoor National Championships.

Before taking on the 60m hurdles challenge, Ollie will also compete in the South of England Indoor U20 Heptathlon, where he has set his sights firmly on a medal. Depending on how his training progresses, he may even push for a place in the England U20 Indoor Finals for the heptathlon, a testament to both his versatility and ambition.

Balancing elite sport with A-Levels is no small task, but Ollie manages it with humility and quiet determination. In a message to staff, he expressed his thanks for the support he’s received and apologised - unnecessarily - for not updating sooner, citing just how hectic life has become in Year 13.

Ollie’s blend of drive, talent, and appreciation for those who help him along the way makes him a role model for students across the school. As he heads into an exciting indoor season, all eyes will be on him - not only for what he achieves in competition, but for the inspiring way he continues to balance academic commitment with sporting excellence.

Well done, Ollie - and good luck for the season ahead.
