Remembrance Service 2025
Today, our entire school community gathered in silence to honour the sacrifice made by service men and women who gave their lives to protect our freedom.
Staff and students came together for our annual Remembrance Service, sharing a moment of quiet reflection and gratitude for those who have served and continue to serve.

The ceremony began with the traditional call to arms, as ‘Stand To’ was sounded across the atroturf. This was followed by a moving reading of the well-known excerpt from For the Fallen – “We will remember them” – delivered beautifully by Michaela. The solemn notes of the Last Post then filled the air, leading the school into a profound two minutes of silence.

Following this moment of reflection, members of our student leadership team laid wreaths. These will be moved to the foot of the school's English Oak — a tree gifted to Charters in 2018 by Hillier Garden Centre to mark the centenary of the Great War. The ceremony continued with a heartfelt reading of In Flanders Fields by Emmanuel, before concluding with the sounding of Reveille, symbolising hope and renewal.

Students conducted themselves with great respect throughout the service. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Mr Hoare for managing the sound system and to Head of History, Mr Matthews, for planning and leading this year’s event.
