SPARX Maths – A Huge Well Done!
As many of you will know, we use the SPARX Maths programme to help support and deepen students’ understanding of key mathematical concepts. We've just received this year's statistics – and they’re truly impressive!
1,481,217 questions answered correctly by students
24,663 hours of personalised maths practice
153,760 misconceptions and knowledge gaps addressed
These numbers show what we already know – that regular use of SPARX really does help students improve their skills and build confidence, whatever stage of maths they're at.
A special well done goes to our star students for this year:
- Year 7 – Jackson D
- Year 8 – Ahmed K
- Year 9 – Jacob H
- Year 10 – Maya V
- Year 11 – Holly K
We’re so proud of all of you – keep up the fantastic work!
Curriculum Enrichment Day
Tuesday saw our exciting Curriculum Enrichment Day, with each year group diving deep into different learning themes:
- Year 7 explored the use of maths in real-world applications linked to PE and engineering
- Year 8 spent the day thinking about biodiversity and designing local habitats
- Year 9 became journalists for the day, running a newsroom and creating articles for various forms of media
- Year 10 took part in an inspiring Ethics Day with speakers from Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, the Baha’i faith, and Humanism
It was fantastic to see students fully embracing the activities – their enthusiasm and engagement were a joy to see!
Summer Concert
This week saw another fantastic concert in school with over 150 students taking part and music being played from Black Sabbath to Verdi. Thank you to all who took part and all the parents and carers who came along to support. A special thank you goes to the Music department for organising the event.
Attachment Aware Schools Award – Silver!
We’re thrilled to share that we’ve been awarded the Attachment Aware Schools Silver Award, building on the Bronze Award we achieved last year.
This recognition is part of our work with the AfC Virtual School, in collaboration with the Educational Psychology Service, and reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting all our students – especially those who have experienced trauma or face challenges related to attachment.
The award celebrates the steps we’re taking to become an even more inclusive, responsive, and supportive school for every member of our community.
Hot weather & PE Kit
With high temperatures expected to continue until 18 July, students are welcome to come into school in their Charter PE kit for the remainder of term to help them stay cool and comfortable.
We know many students were disappointed that Sports Day had to be cancelled – especially our Year 10s, who were looking forward to their final one. We really did explore every possibility, but with clear skies and temperatures of around 30°C, it wouldn’t have been safe to have everyone out on the fields with no shade for several hours. Thank you for your understanding.

STICKINS
We suggest that each piece of uniform is clearly named so that items can be found quickly and easily if mislaid. Any un-named items that are not collected from lost property at the end of each term are donated to charity.
You could help raise funds for our school and safeguard your belongings by using name labels from Stickins. They are quick and easy to use as there is no sewing or ironing involved and if you quote fundraising number 4071 when placing an order, Charters School will receive a small commission.
BE PREPARED
EVERY DAY STUDENTS WILL NEED TO BRING...
HOPE CHURCH FOOD SHARE
The Hope Church food share takes place each Tuesday from 12pm-1pm.
The items include mainly fresh food and bakery items donated from local supermarkets. The food is at the end of its shelf life (but still perfectly fine to eat!) and would otherwise just go to waste. Bring a bag to fill up, stop for a chat and a cup of tea (and cake!!) and warm up in the church. ALL welcome, no voucher/referral required.
Hope Church, Sunningdale, The Hope Centre, High Street Sunningdale, (next to Nag’s Head).
