NEWSLETTER - 6th June 2025
We hope you all had a lovely and restful half-term break — thankfully, the weather treated us a little more kindly than it has this week!
A huge congratulations to Arianna in Year 9, who has been selected to represent England in basketball for her age group! What an incredible achievement. We’re wishing her the very best of luck as she heads off to compete in two exciting tournaments — one in Greece and another at the Home Nations competition later this summer.
This week has seen two residential trips go out. Our A Level Geography students have been exploring the stunning landscapes of Wales, while our Year 10 French linguists have been immersed in the culture (and sunshine!) of Montpellier. Both trips have been action-packed and a brilliant learning experience for students and staff alike — albeit a little exhausting!
We also launched our smart device pouch system this week, and we’re pleased to report it’s been working really well. Students are adjusting quickly, and we’ve seen smooth transitions at the end of the day with no delays or disruptions. Just a quick reminder: while on school grounds, phones should stay in pouches at all times. If your child is staying for a club or attending a consequence after school, their phone should remain in the pouch until they leave the site — this is still part of their school day.
We’ve carried out several spot checks, and so far, the response has been overwhelmingly positive — only two phones have had to be confiscated. We truly appreciate your ongoing support with this policy. We’re confident it will have a really positive impact on students' focus and wellbeing.
Helping our young people understand that there's a time and place for phone use is an important part of their development. We're hopeful that these new habits will extend beyond the school gates too, encouraging healthier phone use overall.
Thank you as always for your support with such matters.

NEWS IN BRIEF
ARIANNA'S SELECTION FOR U14 NATIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM
We are delighted to report that Arianna in Year 9 has been selected to play for the U14 England National Basketball team following an exceptional performance at the Selection Camp.
In a letter from Basketball England, the coaches and talent professionals on the selection panel commented that her skill, attitude, and potential stood out and that her achievement was a direct reflection of her dedication and hard work. They were also impressed with the progress she had made.
Arianna will play in the England Talent Programme (ETP) Tournament in Greece this weekend and will also play in the home nations games later in the year.
Arianna should be incredibly proud of her selection and we look forward to hearing more about her representation on the International Stage.
