Marvellous Mathematicians

Last month, Year 7 and 8 students took part in the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust Junior Mathematics Challenge. The aim of the UKMT is to promote a love of problem solving. It encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems.
The Junior Mathematical Challenge is a 60-minute, multiple-choice competition aimed at students across the UK. The JMC is recognised nationally, and the follow-up rounds internationally.
To recognise the highest performers in the Challenge, the top-scoring 50% of participants are awarded Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates in the ratio 3:2:1.
The highest achieving Gold awardees are invited to partake in follow-up rounds. 12 achieved Gold, 26 Silver and 40 Bronze. All participants have been awarded certificates.
Well done to all who participated this year. You all did marvellously well and deserve a pat on the back! Congratulations!! We now wish the 6 students who have been invited to participate in the follow up round of the Junior Kangaroo the very best of luck!!
