Sixth Form Hosts Post-18 Pathways Day for Year 12

This week, Charters Sixth Form welcomed alumni, parents, and local professionals for our annual Post-18 Pathways Day — a celebration of the many diverse journeys life can take after A Levels.
Our Year 12 students were given the opportunity to hear first-hand from a wide range of speakers about the paths they took after their A Levels. From university and apprenticeships to creative industries, entrepreneurship and unexpected career changes, the stories shared were both enlightening and empowering.
In addition to the talks, students explored key topics around future options including higher education, apprenticeships, gap years and entering the workforce. Advice on how to choose a university or course, understand UCAS applications, write personal statements, and prepare for interviews helped students feel more confident about their next steps.
One consistent message throughout the day was the importance of staying open to change and believing in yourself — no matter where your journey begins. The speakers generously offered not just their time but their honesty, highlighting the real challenges and opportunities that life after school can bring.
The sessions also covered practical insights, from transferable skills and decision-making to the value of curiosity and resilience. For many students, the day provided a powerful moment of reflection and motivation as they start to consider their next steps.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our guest speakers - alumni both both young and old, supportive parents, and members of the local community - whose contributions made this year’s Post-18 Pathways Day such a success.
