NEWSLETTER -27th FEBRUARY 2026

Welcome back after the half-term break.
The start of term assembly this week focused on the need for consistency. I recently read a book by Alex Hill called Centennials: The 12 habits of great, enduring organisations. This was used as the basis for the assembly and the focus on consistency of approach by all for all. The New Zealand Rugby team and its former captain Riche McCaw formed the backbone of the learning point from the assembly. Doing the basics right day after day, supporting each other, leads to sustained success.
In our setting, this means coming into school every day, putting phones in pouches, being in the correct uniform, and following the routines of the Charters Way. These help our students and our staff ensure that we have the environment for success.

We have a short but busy term in front of us, and we know that we have many trips and visits planned alongside other opportunities in school. We have several school teams still progressing in the county cups, and we have the auditions for the KS3 production Guys and Dolls.
We look forward to seeing you all in school as the weather improves and the daffodils create splashes of colour around the school site.
Year 11 and Year 13 are in their final full term before their exams begin, and we know they are focused and are working hard towards their exams. We know that this time is stressful for them so we would encourage all to focus on their learning and revision as well as making sure that they have opportunities to exercise and be with their friends.

POLITE REMINDER – KINDLY COMPLETE THE IMPACTED SURVEY
This term Charters is taking part in a national research project called “Understanding Attendance” with ImpactEd. The aim is simple: to help us better understand what helps young people come to school feeling ready, confident and able to learn — and what sometimes gets in the way. Attendance is influenced by many things, from routines at home and sleep, to friendships, wellbeing and how connected students feel to school.
All parents/carers will have now received a letter regarding this survey. There is a copy of the link and QR code below:
https://impacted.typeform.com/charters

We would be really grateful if you could spare a few minutes to complete it. Your views genuinely matter — they will help us shape the support we provide and ensure we focus on the things that make the biggest difference for our students and families. Responses are anonymous and are analysed alongside other schools nationally so we can learn what works best.
Thank you in advance for your continued support and we look forward to sharing the findings with you later this academic year.
INFORMATION FOR SEN FAMILIES - 'FACE 'SEMINARS

The school has signed up to a website called FACE which holds seminars online for parents/carers. Above is the March Timetable which may be of interest.
There is usually a fee of £24.00 for parents/carers to attend, however as we as a school have signed up if you use the following code then it is free: CH310126
PRE-LOVED UNIFORM - TIME FOR A WARDROBE CHECK!

Although we won’t begin collecting pre-loved uniform until Monday 23rd March, now is the perfect time to have a look through your child’s wardrobe and see what they may have outgrown.
With the warmer months ahead, after Easter, students will be able to wear the crested summer polo shirt — and these are always in high demand! If you have any that no longer fit, we would be especially grateful for your donations.
We are currently running low on a number of items, particularly as we now only accept uniform featuring the new school crest. Your contributions make a real difference in supporting families within our school community and promoting sustainability by giving uniform a second life.
Thank you in advance for your continued generosity — every item donated is truly appreciated.

XTSE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME

Please see the above a flyer outlining an internship specifically designed for university undergraduates in their second, third or final year, and master’s students, interested in getting experience of a career in teaching. Government funding of £455 per week (£1365 total) is available for secondary Maths, Physics, Chemistry, MFL, Computing and Design and Technology interns, but we also run the programme for all other secondary subject specialisms and primary teaching on an unfunded basis. The programme is based across multiple schools in Surrey, Berkshire and Sussex and will run for 3 weeks this summer (Mon 15th June - Fri 3rd July 2026). It is a fantastic programme through which you can gain three weeks of work experience and high-quality in-school training.
Our Upcoming Opportunities page is constantly updated with new and exciting Careers opportunities.

BE PREPARED
EVERY DAY STUDENTS WILL NEED TO BRING...

HOPE FOOD SHARE

The Hope Church food share takes place each Tuesday from 12pm-1pm.
The items include mainly fresh food and bakery items donated from local supermarkets. The food is at the end of its shelf life (but still perfectly fine to eat!) and would otherwise just go to waste. Bring a bag to fill up, stop for a chat and a cup of tea (and cake!!) and warm up in the church. ALL welcome, no voucher/referral required.
Hope Church, Sunningdale, The Hope Centre, High Street Sunningdale, (next to Nag’s Head).
