Over the coming months we will be spotlighting our four 2025-26 AFBT sports Bursary recipients to showcase their outstanding talent and highlight just what the financial support will mean to them.  Following last months interview with Fiona and Suzanne from AFBT, we are kicking off this series of articles with Year 10 student Harry, the youngest of the recipients this year.

Having taken up golf at the age of seven, Harry’s passion for the sport has gone from strength to strength. He began his journey through Windlesham’s Young Golfers Programme before progressing to the prestigious Wentworth Elite Scholarship Programme, where he continues to train and compete.

Harry’s talent and dedication have already led to significant success at county and international level. In 2025, he was invited to represent the Surrey Under-14 County Golf Team, an achievement that marked an important milestone in his golfing career. That same year, Harry and his teammates went on to win the Southeast England County Championships, a fantastic accomplishment that reflects both his skill and commitment to the sport. He has also competed in the European Junior Golf Championships, gaining valuable experience on the international stage.

Looking ahead, Harry’s progress continues. In 2026, he has been selected for the Surrey County Under-16 Development Squad, recognising his ongoing development and potential for future success.

Harry told us "I am very grateful to receive this bursary as it has already helped me improve my game, through the high quality equipment and accessories that I've been able to get."   It has also enabled him to compete in more competitive tournaments all over the country.  So what are his next steps?

"My future aspirations are to be able to be in the England Golf team competing against different countries and getting a scholarship to go to an American university for golf".

With such ambitions to represent England and eventually turn professional, Harry remains focused on refining his swing, sharpening his short game and developing strong course management skills.

The bursary will play a vital role in supporting Harry’s journey, funding future essential equipment upgrades and enabling him to take part in high-level tournaments as he continues to pursue his golfing dreams.
