NEWSLETTER - 16th JANUARY 2026

Joining the Learning Support Centre and the Science Building, we now have a new sign that spells out Autism using the periodic table.

This is part of our ongoing work to ensure that students and staff are aware of neurodivergence. It has caused quite a reaction amongst students who have been talking about the sign.
Over the last few weeks, I have popped into a number of second break clubs and societies: Chess, Reading, Library, Drama and Pride. It has been great to see different groups of students enjoying each other's company in these societies. A special thank you to all the staff and the Sixth Formers who make these possible.
This is the National Year of Reading, launched by the Department of Education. More information can be found HERE . One aspect that is not disputed by anyone is that learning to read with confidence is an important life skill that brings a wide array of positives for each individual.
The transition or next steps meetings started this week with Year 11. All Year 11 students meet with a senior member of staff to discuss their options for the next stage of their education and the qualifications they will need to make the next step, whether that is into our Sixth Form, a Sixth Form College or another school's Sixth Form. This is an important part in the process of getting ready for the change that will be coming for them in August, and as we all know, change is a part of our lives and being supported in this change is an important part in making it successful.
Continuing the theme of change, Year 9 students are starting to look at their options for Year 10 when they attend Key Stage 4. This is another important transition point for the students, and the guidance and support for them starts with a presentation in assemblies next week. There will be more information to follow in the forthcoming weeks.
Planning for the next stage has already started in Year 12, with students starting to consider their next steps post Year 13. This week, a group of students visited Oxford University to look at colleges and hear about the application process. The students also heard from former Charters students’ studying at different colleges and were given a tour by them.
This week has seen the school production, DNA, performed. The theme of the play is thought-provoking, exploring themes of groupthink, social responsibility, morality, peer pressure and centres on the actions and decisions made by a group of teenagers. The production was excellent and showed the diversity in our students' performance range. Thank you to the parents and staff, who are all part of the newly formed Friends of Charters School (FoCS), who helped out with refreshments for the evening. All funds raised by FoCS will directly benefit students at Charters.
With Thanks to Our Wonderful Community
The Drama Department at Charters School would like to kindly give thanks to the local businesses who have graciously advertised in our production programme of DNA.

We also express our sincere thanks to our production sponsor Elysee Kitchens and Interiors for sponsoring both nights of this dynamic production, and Tesco Local Sunninghill for providing refreshment items.
Without this essential support, these performances would not be possible.

Pippa |
As well as achieving 100% attendance so far this academic year, Pippa is always so friendly and polite. She always takes the time to ask how others are, making other students (and members of staff) feel valued. She is resilient and hardworking, and tries her absolute best even when she faces challenges. She's a fantastic member of 7G and should be so proud of the progress she's made so far at Charters. |

EVERY DAY STUDENTS WILL NEED TO BRING...
HOPE FOOD SHARE

The Hope Church food share takes place each Tuesday from 12pm-1pm.
The items include mainly fresh food and bakery items donated from local supermarkets. The food is at the end of its shelf life (but still perfectly fine to eat!) and would otherwise just go to waste. Bring a bag to fill up, stop for a chat and a cup of tea (and cake!!) and warm up in the church. ALL welcome, no voucher/referral required.
Hope Church, Sunningdale, The Hope Centre, High Street Sunningdale, (next to Nag’s Head).
