NEWSLETTER - 2nd MAY 2025
This week we finished off the interview process for the senior student leadership team. The students all had a formal interview, a presentation that they had prepared and then a task where they had to pick a topic and had a minute to plan a one-minute presentation on that topic. It was a real pleasure and inspirational to listen to students, hearing about their volunteering, aspirations and views on what success is to them.
We had two external speakers in this week, the first delivered a wellbeing support session to Year 11 and Year 13 to give them strategies that they can use to help deal with stress during examinations. Funding for this and other emotional wellbeing initiatives was generously donated by parents via the 2023/24 Legacy Fund and the Tesco Stronger Starts Scheme. The second speaker from Asylum Speakers, who spoke to students in Year’s 9,10 & 12 about his experience of coming to UK as an asylum seeker and his presentation highlighted the importance of kindness and resilience. These presentations are part of our ongoing determination to help students understand how to support themselves, others and understand other people's stories.
Congratulations to Miss Male and Mr Martin, who completed the London Marathon last Sunday in hot weather. I am full of admiration for them as the conditions were very tough.
Parental support information regarding the online platform DISCORD can be found here.
We continue to plan for the introduction of the new smart devices policy on 2 June. Next week, year groups 7,8,9 & 10 will have assemblies on the new policy. The following week, there will be an online presentation for parents to explain the new policy. The FAQs can be found here.

SKORTS
Please can we remind parents that skorts are not part of our school uniform. Please do not purchase skorts via unofficial channels for your daughter to wear in PE lessons. The correct PE kit for all students can be found here and can be purchased via the School Shop or our Pre-Loved Uniform sales, the next of which will take place on Wednesday 21st May 3.00 - 3.30pm in the new PLU Shop in Reception. Thank you for your support.
WORK EXPERIENCE OPPORTUNITIES
Our Year 12 students will be undertaking work experience from 23rd to 27th June and a few students are still looking for placements. We are specifically looking for companies who might deal with or have connections to:
- UX/I Design
- STEM - research, physics, computer science
If you, or the company that you work for, are able to offer a placement during this week, kindly contact Head of Year 12, Mrs Singh.
LEGACY FUND
External exams for Years 11 and 13 begin next week. For families who wish to mark the end of their child’s time at Charters we have set up a Legacy Fund for those who wish to make a contribution. The names of all donors feature on our Legacy Wall in the Main Hall and this year’s donations will once again support a series of mental health workshops. Should you wish to make a donation please follow this link which will take you to our secure online CAF Donation page.
We are mindful that the whole of the UK is experiencing a rise in the cost of living and are aware that this will have an impact on many of our families. With this in mind we would like to encourage the donation of any unwanted text books and good quality uniform after the exams. These can be left in the boxes in our Main Reception and will benefit students in need.
LOST GLASSES
There are a lot of glasses that have been handed in to lost property since the beginning of the year. If your child wishes to reclaim your glasses, please ask them to pop into Student Services to do so.
BE PREPARED
EVERY DAY STUDENTS WILL NEED TO BRING...
HOPE CHURCH FOOD SHARE
The Hope Church food share takes place each Tuesday from 12pm-1pm.
The items include mainly fresh food and bakery items donated from local supermarkets. The food is at the end of its shelf life (but still perfectly fine to eat!) and would otherwise just go to waste. Bring a bag to fill up, stop for a chat and a cup of tea (and cake!!) and warm up in the church. ALL welcome, no voucher/referral required.
Hope Church, Sunningdale, The Hope Centre, High Street Sunningdale, (next to Nag’s Head).
