A Night at the Theatre for Year 12 English Literature Students

Our Year 12 English Literature students recently enjoyed a fantastic trip to watch F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel, The Great Gatsby, brought to life at the London Coliseum.
Year 12 student Freda shared her thoughts on the evening:
"On Friday 27th April, the Year 12 English Literature class took an educational and exciting trip into London to see the West End Production of Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby at London Coliseum. The fun-filled evening involved travelling into London and grabbing some dinner before watching the lively production, with a quick stop to take a picture in front of Shakespeare’s famous statue in Leicester Square. The show was amazing with fantastic dances and costuming, definitely not to be missed for any theatre lover. It was a fantastic evening and a perfect addition to the student’s knowledge of new and different textual interpretations of The Great Gatsby"
Trips such as these form part of the outstanding Sixth Form provision at Charters School, where we pride ourselves on offering a rich and inspiring curriculum alongside exceptional opportunities beyond the classroom. Whether through academic enrichment, cultural experiences, or leadership programmes, we are committed to preparing our students not just for exams, but for life beyond school.
Our Sixth Form students consistently achieve excellent results, with many going on to study at top universities, take up prestigious apprenticeships, or succeed in a wide range of career paths. In 2024, over 80% of A Level English Literature students were awarded A*-B, reflecting the hard work of our students and the dedication of our staff.
The Great Gatsby trip is just one example of how Charters Sixth Form supports students in deepening their understanding of their subjects, while also making unforgettable memories along the way.
