A Celebration of Independent Research

We’re incredibly proud of our Year 12 students at Charters Sixth Form, who have been impressively delivering their Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) presentations!
These formal, timed presentations mark a major milestone in each student's EPQ journey, as they showcase the outcome of months of independent research and dedication. Whether exploring psychology, engineering, literature, social issues, or scientific innovation, our students tackled their topics with intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and professionalism.
The EPQ presentation isn’t just a formality, it’s a key component of the qualification. It challenges students to communicate their ideas clearly, reflect on their research process, and engage with questions from their audience, which includes their peers and EPQ supervisors. This experience builds vital skills in public speaking, time management, academic research, and self-evaluation - skills that will serve them well in university and beyond.
At Charters, we value and celebrate student-led learning, and the EPQ is a shining example of that ethos. These presentations reflect the ambition, independence, and academic maturity of our Sixth Formers. Watching them articulate their findings with confidence and depth is nothing short of inspiring.
In addition to the EPQ presentations, younger students also participated in the Foundation Project Qualification (FPQ) and Higher Project Qualification (HPQ), which act as stepping stones towards the EPQ. These projects allow students to develop essential research and presentation skills from an earlier stage in their academic journey.
Charters continues to foster a culture of excellence through its potential High Achievers Programme, designed to support ambitious students aiming for competitive university courses, apprenticeships and careers. This programme provides enrichment opportunities, including workshops, mentorship, and guidance for applications to top universities.
A huge well done to all our presenters - you’ve done yourselves and the school proud!
