NEWSLETTER - 12th SEPTEMBER 2025
The first full week of school was completed, along with another week of changeable weather. Year 7 are settling in well and getting to grips with their YONDR pouches as well as the Canteen, it has been great to see them getting involved in their lessons and throwing themselves into the Charters community.
This week's assemblies have focused on setting personal goals for the year and working together as a team to ensure success and help overcome adversity, using England's most successful football team the Lionesses, as an example. Their route through to being European champions (again) this summer perfectly illustrates the power of teamwork, resilience, and determination. It was also great to hear the names of the students who have made an excellent start to the school year.
The first school concert of the new year took place on Monday, with the Year 11 GCSE class performing. This was a rearranged concert as in July Mr Stephenson was very poorly and could not support the evening . Thank you to Mr Stephenson and the rest of the Music department for getting the postponed concert on so quickly this term.
A couple of dates for you during the week beginning 15 September, we will be running a fire drill to ensure that all students are aware of the procedures and also the expectations, the following week, the week beginning 22 September, we will be carrying a lockdown drill. Both of these drills are essential for students to know what to do in the event that we need to use them for real.
Also next Friday 19 September, Year 11 will be off timetable having input from an external provider to revisit techniques for revision, help develop the skill of taking good notes and how to maintain a positive outlook under pressure. It will be a fantastic day for Year 11 and help them in many different ways for the year ahead.
School life is certainly back in full flow for all students, with extracurricular clubs up and running the first school trips of the year being planned by departments. Please do keep an eye on communications coming out. Certain trips are heavily oversubscribed so we run a ballot system to make the allocation of places as fair as possible.

The letter for the evening is also on the school website here and the link for the MS Form to choose sessions here. We would encourage as many families as possible to attend, but please note that spaces in the sessions will be limited to one parent / carer per family.
DID YOU EMPTY YOUR LOCKER LAST TERM?
Any lockers that were not emptied before the holidays had their contents emptied into a black bag and stored with Student Services. Each bag is labelled with the locker number so it should be easy for students to identify their belongings. There are still a number of unclaimed bags which need reuniting with their owners.
If you forgot to remove your belongings from your locker at the end of last term, please visit Student Services to reclaim your possessions. Thank you!

SCHOOL LOCKERS

There are currently a few lockers remaining for hire by students for this academic year. The lockers are owned by ILS and are available for students to rent on an annual basis. The rental cost is £25 per year, allowing use from September through to July.
It is not compulsory for every student to hire a locker, but it saves students carrying heavy bags around the school site.
If you would like to hire a locker for your child please visit the ILS website at www.ilsschools.co.uk.
