Annabelle Shines at National Athletics Finals

Year 11 student Annabelle has proven that hard work, resilience, and passion can take you to the very top, after an outstanding performance at the National Finals of the Upper Youth Development Athletics League (UYDL) in Liverpool last weekend.
Representing Bromley and Blackheath Harriers as a second-claim athlete from her home club, Bracknell AC, Annabelle competed in the U17 Girls’ long jump. Against tough competition, she delivered a fantastic performance to take third place and a national medal – securing crucial points for Bromley and Blackheath Harriers as they went on win National Finals of the 2025 UYDL.
Annabelle’s summer has been a whirlwind of competitions, balancing the demands of training and travel with the all-important pressures of GCSE study. Her commitment to both her sport and her schoolwork shows a level of maturity beyond her years, and her success is a testament to the motivation and resilience she brings to everything she does.
Speaking about the national finals, Annabelle's mother said "she had such a great experience and really enjoyed herself,” marking the event as a special conclusion to her athletics season. Beyond the medals and team triumphs, the trip also offered Annabelle and her family the chance to explore Liverpool city centre – even sparking thoughts about future university options.
But Annabelle’s sporting journey doesn’t stop here. As the athletics season draws to a close, she now turns her focus to rugby with Bracknell RFC U16 Girls for the winter – once again proving her versatility, determination, and love for sport.
Annabelle’s achievements this season not only highlight her individual talent but also the spirit of teamwork, dedication, and balance that will carry her far, both on and off the field.
