NEWSLETTER - 13th June 2025
The continued support from Taylor Wimpey has seen the delivery of the bricks that are needed to build the outdoor BBQ as part of the Sowers & Growers project. Selected students will be involved in the design and building of the BBQ, we hope for a celebration at the end of the term after it is completed. The outcome for the Sowers & Growers team working in the Maine Centre Garden, is trying to not only help cultivate plants but also build confidence and problem-solving for individuals. Thank you to all in the local community who have helped with the setting up of the Sowers & Growers project and your ongoing support.
UPDATE ON PHONE POUCHES
We are two weeks into the new policy and want to give you some feedback on how the programme is going.
For the last two weeks Year 7 students have finished early to allow them time to get used to the system. They have completed this now, so from Monday June 16 they will finish the school day at 3:00 as normal.
We are already seeing positives: students are not spending so long in the toilet, reception staff report fewer phone calls into school, and students have reported feeling less pressure to reply to messages as people know that they don’t have their phones. Another advantage we have also seen is that students appear to be talking to each other more and moving around more and more quickly, which is an interesting observation.
So far, we have unfortunately had to confiscate 12 phones during this period, and two students have had further consequences due to the decisions they have made.
We would like to thank you for your ongoing support with this important school policy.

NEWS IN BRIEF
ANNIE THEATRE PRODUCTION
Year 7 students were treading the boards last month in the Wilde Theatre production on Annie The Musical at South Hill Park. Jessica and Eloise shared the lead role of orphan Annie in this timeless classic, with Scarlett and Amelie playing orphans Molly and Kate. The girls all did a fantastic job in the feel-good production showcasing their talent through each iconic song. Well done!

YEAR 7 - QUINCY 7A
This week’s star is Quincy, for being consistently diligent and always demonstrating true integrity in everything he does. Quincy sets an outstanding example for others by working hard, staying focused, and doing the right thing - even when no one is watching.
YEAR 8 - OLIVER 8E
For being a wonderful, positive role model.
YEAR 9 - TIA 9G
Has shown excellent commitment to her learning and progress this term, Tia is a talented and valued member of the Year group.
YEAR 10 - EMMA 10C
12 achievement points in one week! Excellent role model and regularly demonstrates the school values.
YEAR 12 - ATIA 12B2
Atia was absolutely superb in the Post-18 session, asking so many thoughtful questions to the guest speakers and really making the most out of the opportunities to speak with them. She is working so hard at home to research courses and universities which is so impressive to see. She really is owning this as her journey!!
We received a heartfelt thank you this week in praise of our fabulous PE team. Ben in Year 7 is a sporty individual who had a fantastic weekend winning gold in the U13 75m hurdles at the South East of England Championships at Crystal Palace.
His family expressed their thanks to Mr Douglas and Mr Cumner for encouraging Ben to complete for the school which gave him confidence in a discipline where he had no prior experience. Ben rounded off the meet with a trio of achievements in the form of a 2nd place and a PB in the shot put, and a PB in 200m sprint.
His family said "Thank you PE team for helping Ben find a talent that he didn’t realise he had. Your job really makes a difference to the lives of these young children."
We couldn't agree more with these sentiments and hope that many more undiscovered athlete will be inspired to try a new event in the future.

EVERY DAY STUDENTS WILL NEED TO BRING...
HOPE CHURCH FOOD SHARE
The Hope Church food share takes place each Tuesday from 12pm-1pm.
The items include mainly fresh food and bakery items donated from local supermarkets. The food is at the end of its shelf life (but still perfectly fine to eat!) and would otherwise just go to waste. Bring a bag to fill up, stop for a chat and a cup of tea (and cake!!) and warm up in the church. ALL welcome, no voucher/referral required.
Hope Church, Sunningdale, The Hope Centre, High Street Sunningdale, (next to Nag’s Head).
