Poet Jacob Sam-La Rose Visits Charters
English Language and Literature students in Years 12 and 13 welcomed renowned poet and educator Jacob Sam-La Rose to Charters this week to discuss ‘Breaking Silence’, his collection of poetry which is part of the A Level English Language and Literature specification.
A level students are required to analyse how meanings are shaped in his poetry, and explore how he uses poetic and stylistic techniques to present ideas, so hearing from the poet himself was an amazing opportunity.
Our students asked him some very insightful questions and you can hear him discussing his influences below.
The two hour workshop allowed the students to ask searching questions about Jacob's writing process, his influences and how he reflects on his work as time passes.
You can hear Jacob recite his poem, A Spell for Forgetting a Father, below.
