Junior Drama Delights Audiences with a Show-Stopping Performance of Guys & Dolls
105 of our talented junior Drama students wowed audiences with two outstanding performances of Guys & Dolls, bringing the glitz, glamour and unforgettable music of Broadway to life in spectacular style.
Set against the vibrant backdrop of 1950s New York, Guys & Dolls tells the story of a frantic gambler determined to organise an illegal craps game, alongside the romance between a charismatic high-roller and a devoted missionary. Packed with toe-tapping jazz numbers, energetic dance routines and a host of colourful characters, it remains one of the most beloved musicals of all time – and our students certainly did it justice.

From the opening number to the final curtain call, the production was polished, professional and full of energy. Countless hours of rehearsals were evident in every scene, with confident performances, slick choreography and impressive musicianship combining to create a truly memorable evening. The audience were left tapping their toes, humming the songs long after they had left the theatre and thoroughly transported into the world of Broadway for a few wonderful hours.
Mr Jay, who directed the production said, "The students were amazing throughout every single part of this process, they worked incredibly hard and rehearsed their absolute socks off. All of the tech crew were equally amazing and made the show run smoothly. I am so proud of how they applied themselves and created such a magical show."
This year's production showcased significant investment in our performing arts facilities. Thanks to a generous grant from Wellington College, a donation from The Prince Philip Trust, and the continued generosity of parents and carers supporting the Charters Legacy Fund as their children leave the school this summer, the cast performed using brand new state-of-the-art lapel microphones and an upgraded sound desk. These enhancements elevated the production even further, ensuring every line, lyric and laugh reached the audience with exceptional clarity.

Productions such as these simply would not be possible without the dedication of our staff. Our heartfelt thanks go to Mr Jay and Miss Jordan for the passion, encouragement and countless hours they invested in nurturing the immense talent of our youngest performers. Their commitment inspired every student to perform with confidence, enthusiasm and professionalism.
We are also incredibly grateful to the local businesses that supported the production by advertising in the programme, helping to make the show such a success.
A special thank you goes to Artis Studio, our local Sunninghill photographers, for capturing professional headshots of the cast, providing students with lasting memories of their performances.

Finally, thank you to all the parents, carers, families and members of the wider community who joined us across two exceptionally warm evenings. Your enthusiastic support created a wonderful atmosphere and meant so much to our cast and crew.
Congratulations to everyone involved in Guys & Dolls. It was a joyous celebration of talent, teamwork and creativity, and a fitting reminder of the remarkable opportunities our students embrace through the performing arts at Charters.
