Students Enjoy Exciting Women's Cricket World Cup Enrichment Trip
Students from Years 7–10 enjoyed an unforgettable enrichment visit to the Hampshire Utilita Bowl on Tuesday, 16 June, to watch two exciting matches in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup.
The trip provided students with the opportunity to experience international sport in a world-class venue while building friendships, developing teamwork and enjoying a memorable day beyond the classroom. Enrichment visits such as this play an important role in broadening students' experiences, strengthening relationships across year groups and inspiring an appreciation of sport.
Students watched Sri Lanka defeat New Zealand by five wickets before England secured a thrilling four-wicket victory over Ireland. The atmosphere throughout the day was fantastic, with mascots Blaze and Tonk entertaining the crowd during the breaks, alongside interactive games, food stalls and official tournament merchandise.

Student Report
Abi (Year 8) captured the excitement of the day in the following report:
"On Tuesday, June 16th, 2026, students in Years 7 to 10 went on a school trip to the Hampshire Utilita Bowl to watch two matches of the Women's ICC T20 World Cup.
These matches were Sri Lanka v New Zealand and Ireland v England.
Sri Lanka won their match by five wickets, England theirs by four.
The matches were extremely entertaining to watch, and the venue offered some amazing food options and games for younger children. Additionally, you could buy official merchandise such as hats and shirts.
There were also some very adorable mascots called Blaze and Tonk who hyped up the crowd during the breaks in the game. (I liked Blaze the most!)
The Sri Lankan game was entertaining due to the closeness of the match and how great the teams bowled and batted.
The England game was entertaining for me as it was my two ethnic countries against each other.
The teams all played particularly well, but eventually Sri Lanka and England came out on top after two extremely close games."
England's victory at the Utilita Bowl was just one step on an impressive tournament journey. The team progressed all the way to the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Final, which took place on 5 July, where they faced Australia. Despite a determined performance, England were beaten by Australia, who were crowned tournament champions.
The visit was a wonderful example of how enrichment activities enhance learning outside the classroom. Students not only experienced top-class international cricket but also developed confidence, teamwork and stronger friendships while representing the school impeccably. It was a day that combined sport, learning and enjoyment, creating lasting memories for everyone who attended.
