Athletics Success at Charters
Charters students have enjoyed an exceptional few weeks of athletics, with athletes achieving remarkable success at county and national level. This has resulted in exciting races, personal bests and five students securing their place at the English Schools National Finals at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th July.

Year 8 student Reuben is our youngest student to be taking part in the ESAA National Championships and he will be racing in the 1500m event. Competing a year young in his age group, he achieved the qualifying time of 4:19.57 at the British Milers Club Open Meet in Loughborough.
Year 10 student Bethany reached the finals of both the 100m and 200m at the Welsh Outdoor Championships, finishing 4th in the 200m. She also won a bronze medal while representing RBWM at the Berkshire Schools County Championships which led to her selection to represent Berkshire at the English Schools Championships after achieving the qualifying standard in the 100m.
Holly in Year 11 ran a great 300m race at the Berkshire Schools Championships in a time of 39.9 Seconds , and Annabelle also in Year 11, produced a personal best long jump of 5.45m to win gold in the Intermediate age group at the Berkshire Schools Finals. Both outstanding performances earned the girls selection for the English Schools National Finals.
Year 13 student Ollie continued the school's success by winning the 400m hurdles at the Berkshire Schools Track & Field Championships and achieving the qualifying standard for the English Schools Championships.
Additionally a well deserved mention goes to Jacob in Year 10 who won the 100 metre hurdles at the Berkshire Schools Track & Field Championships. Although he didn't make the qualifying time for the ESAA Final, he did show outstanding resilience and a great attitude. After a difficult year of having a broken arm (same event last year) and numerous toe surgeries, he returned this year and did a grand job.

These achievements are a testament to the dedication, commitment and hard work of our athletes.
We congratulate Reuben, Bethany, Holly, Annabelle, Jacob and Ollie on their success and wish those representing Berkshire and Charters School at the English Schools Championships this summer, the very best of luck.
