Easter Ski Trip to Bormio 2026
Fifty Year 9 students recently returned from an unforgettable Easter ski trip to Bormio, the Italian resort which hosted some of this year's Olympics and Paralympics ski races. The students brought back not only improved skiing skills but memories, friendships, and experiences that will last a lifetime.
Designed to cater for skiers of all abilities, the trip offered five full days on the slopes — an incredible 25 hours of skiing in a resort renowned for its extensive terrain and reliable snow conditions. For some students, this was their very first time on skis; for others, a chance to refine and develop existing skills. By the final day, every single student had achieved something remarkable: confidently using the chairlift and making their way down the mountain.
This success did not come without challenge. Students showed determination and resilience as they overcame fears of the chairlift, pushed through aching shins, and repeatedly picked themselves up after inevitable falls. What stood out just as much as their perseverance, however, was the empathy they showed one another — supporting, encouraging, and celebrating each other’s progress throughout the week.
Their conduct was equally impressive. Throughout the long journey to and from Italy, students demonstrated impeccable behaviour, setting the tone for the entire trip. On the slopes, their attitude did not go unnoticed. The instructor leading the advanced group described them as the most polite group he had taught all season — high praise indeed. This may have been helped by the students’ thoughtful (and memorable) gesture on the final day, where they created a guard of honour with their ski poles for him to ski through, a fitting way to thank him for his guidance in refining their technique.

The trip was made possible thanks to the careful planning and leadership of Mr Morgan John, whose dedication ensured a smooth, enriching, and truly special experience for all involved.
From first turns on the beginner slopes to confident descents from the mountain, this trip captured everything that makes learning beyond the classroom so powerful: resilience, teamwork, personal growth, and joy. For both students and staff, the memories made in Bormio will not be forgotten.
