This week’s Spring Concert was a vibrant celebration of music, bringing together students from Year 7 through to Year 13 in an evening that truly highlighted the depth of talent across the school. From powerful vocals to dynamic instrumental performances, the concert was a joyful showcase of creativity, confidence and collaboration.

One of the most striking features of the evening was the versatility of our performers. Many students took to the stage multiple times, switching seamlessly between instruments and ensembles, and moving across a wide range of musical genres—from musical theatre and pop to jazz and film scores. With a varied programme and performances woven thoughtfully throughout the evening, each act brought its own unique energy and character to the stage.

Among the many highlights, the Chamber Choir delivered a moving rendition of Send in the Clowns from A Little Night Music, written by Stephen Sondheim, alongside a heartfelt performance of Chasing Pavements by Adele. The Barbershop Boys charmed the audience with Mambo Italiano, made famous by Dean Martin, before showcasing their rich harmonies in the classic ballad Danny Boy.

Our youngest performers, the Year 7 Junior Vocal Group, impressed with their joyful take on Singin’ in the Rain and the poignant Castle on a Cloud from Les Misérables. The Junior Chamber Choir continued the theme of iconic music with Can You Feel the Love Tonight from The Lion King and My Heart Will Go On, made famous by Celine Dion.

Instrumental performances added further depth to the evening, with the Mixed Orchestra performing music from The Mandalorian alongside the uplifting Power of Love. The Jazz Band brought rhythm and flair with The Moose is Loose by Peter Churchill and A Hoot for Hilary by Richard Michael, closing their set with energy and style.

A particular standout moment came from the Senior Vocal Group, whose rousing and uplifting rendition of Viva La Vida by Coldplay had the audience enthusiastically joining in, creating a real sense of shared celebration. They also performed Let the River Run by Carly Simon with confidence and poise.

Our sincere thanks go to the dedicated staff in the Music Department for curating such a dynamic and engaging programme. Above all, we celebrate our inspirational students, who performed with confidence, pride and a genuine love of music—making this year’s Spring Concert a memorable success for all involved.
