Charters Fencers Reach National Stage
At Charters School, we are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of three exceptional students who are making their mark in the world of fencing. Their recent success is a testament not only to their talent, but to their dedication, resilience and ability to balance the demands of both sport and school life.
Huge congratulations to Victoria (Year 8), Luca (Year 9) and Jessica (Year 10), who have all qualified for the British Youth Championships in Sheffield this May — an outstanding accomplishment in itself.

Competing in the highly competitive Southern Regional events across February and March, each student delivered remarkable performances:
⨠Victoria dominated the U14 Girls’ Épée event, meeting her teammate in the final and securing an impressive 1st place finish.
⨠Luca showed exceptional skill and consistency in the U14 Boys’ Épée, ranking 1st after the poules and finishing 5th overall, narrowly missing out on a podium place by just one point.
⨠Jessica fenced superbly in a strong U16 Girls’ Épée field, achieving a fantastic 1st place finish.
These achievements are even more impressive when we remember that success like this does not happen overnight. Behind each result are hours of training, discipline, and determination, alongside the commitment required to keep up with schoolwork and wider responsibilities. Balancing sport at this level with academic studies is no small feat, and all three students should be applauded for their hard work and focus.

Their club, Luso International Fencing, and everyone at Charters School are immensely proud of what they have accomplished so far.
The journey doesn’t stop here. Next, Victoria, Luca and Jessica will take on their first international competition at the Challenge Wratislava in Poland, before heading to Sheffield for the national championships in May.
We wish them every success as they continue this exciting journey — they are wonderful ambassadors for Charters School and an inspiration to others aspiring to pursue excellence both in and beyond the classroom.
