This week our school community was treated to a something quite unforgettable, as students from across the school performed in our annual Winter Concert.

Seen by many as the event which kick-starts the festive season, the Main Hall was packed with guests who enjoyed an eclectic mix of musical genres. The Senior Orchestra performed Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by Mozart and the festive-favourite Walking in the Air by Howard Blake, while the school's Barbershop held the audience spellbound with their rendition of Mary's Boy Child by Boney M. Classics including Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer - which was sung by the Junior Vocal Group and a snippet of which can be heard by clicking the image below - and the Function Band's version of Don't Stop by Fleetwood Mac, were woven seamlessly into the night's musical programme, ensuring that there was something for every member of the audience, old and young alike.

It was an evening that brought together our wider school community and showed just how highly our parents, carers, local businesses and amazing students regard our school. Our thanks goes to H Prestige Estates Ltd who sponsored the event, and to the newly formed Friends of Charters School who served refreshments at the concert. Our Site Team for preparing the Main Hall for the concert, and the staff and Sixth Form students who acted as great ambassadors in their front-of-house roles. And of course to our incredible Music department, which is led so dynamically by Mr Hoare.

Charters is a vibrant community that holds its motto of Unity, Respect and Excellence at its core. The Winter Concert beautifully demonstrated each of these values and we congratulate all those who worked so hard to create an unforgettable festive treat.
