Shining Bright for World Mental Health Day
On 10th October, people across the country marked World Mental Health Day by wearing yellow — a symbol of hope, positivity, and support for mental wellbeing. At Charters School, mental health is something we think about all year round, and this year we were delighted to share a very special project with our wider community.

Our Main Hall now features a stunning art installation created entirely by our students and staff. Made from hundreds of pieces of yellow and pink paper, each ray of the sun carries a personal message written by a member of our school community. Together, these messages form a powerful reminder that no one is alone when it comes to looking after their mental health.
The idea for the installation came from our Sixth Form Senior Students, who not only conceptualised the project but also brought it to life. Their creativity and compassion have resulted in a mural that brightens our Main Hall and serves as a daily reminder that “it’s okay not to be okay.”
We’re proud to stand alongside schools, colleges, and workplaces across the UK in supporting the charity YoungMindsUK and promoting open conversations about mental health.
