Year 7 Musicians Shine at Annual Concerts

The Main Hall came alive with music and excitement this week as Year 7 students took to the stage for their much-anticipated annual concerts, held on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Across the two evenings, every Year 7 student had the opportunity to perform in front of family, friends, and staff — showcasing the confidence, teamwork, and musical skills they’ve been developing since joining the school. The concerts featured classes 7A, 7B, 7C, and 7E on Tuesday, followed by 7D, 7F, 7G, 7H, and 7I on Wednesday.
The atmosphere was electric as students performed a variety of ensemble pieces over the two nights that highlighted their growing musicality and enthusiasm, from 80s classic Only You by Yazoo to a Gospel Medley that included Swing Low and O When the Saints. For many, it was their first time performing in the Main Hall — a valuable experience that not only strengthened their performance skills but also built self-belief and stage confidence.
Music holds a special place at Charters School. It is a fundamental part of a well-rounded education, encouraging creativity, discipline, and collaboration. Many of the school’s highest-achieving students are also deeply involved in music, reflecting how musical participation supports wider academic and personal success. The Year 7 concerts are an important first step in fostering that connection — helping students develop skills that benefit them both on and off the stage.
The Music Department was full of praise for the students’ dedication and teamwork. “It’s been wonderful to see how far our Year 7 musicians have come in such a short time,” said Head of Music, Mr Hoare, “These concerts are all about building confidence, celebrating progress, and sharing the joy of music-making with our school community.”
Parents and carers were warmly invited to attend, and the supportive audience added to the celebratory spirit of both evenings. The concerts were a clear reflection of our vibrant Music Department — where every student is encouraged to find their voice, work collaboratively, and take pride in their achievements.
Congratulations to all our talented Year 7 students for two wonderful evenings of music and celebration!
