On Tuesday 30th September, a group of our students travelled to Wellington College to take part in a Mock COP 30 event. The conference was designed to give students a real taste of how global climate negotiations are conducted by the United Nations.

Our school entered two teams, representing China and the European Union. Each delegation prepared thoroughly in advance, researching their country’s stance on climate change and international policy.

During the event, the students delivered their opening statements, outlining their positions and priorities on pressing environmental issues. They then addressed key questions and collaborated with other delegations to form solutions.

The day gave students the opportunity to develop their public speaking, teamwork, and critical thinking skills, while also deepening their understanding of the complexities of climate change diplomacy.

It was an inspiring and eye-opening experience, and our students did an excellent job representing both their assigned nations and our school community.

Our thanks to Wellington College for hosting the event, and to Miss Barrett for leading the trip.
