This summer, the spirit of community at Charters School has once again shone brightly through the Essential Parcels initiative - a project made possible thanks to a generous £1,000 Tesco Stronger Starts grant.

Yes, those little blue tokens you drop into a box after your weekly Tesco shop really do make a difference. Earlier this year, Charters School was fortunate to benefit from the scheme, and the results have been truly heartwarming.

Working alongside Tesco Community Champions, (Margaret at Tesco Martins Heron and Amanda at the Bracknell North Superstore) our Marketing Team filled trolley after trolley with essential store cupboard staples. These much-needed supplies were carefully selected to support families during the long summer break, a time that can often bring extra financial pressure.

With characteristic enthusiasm, Sixth Form students from the Senior Student Leadership Team gave up two of their second breaks to roll up their sleeves and pack the parcels. Following that, a cheerful and committed group of Year 9 students delivered the provisions to the school’s main reception, ready for collection.

The initiative is a true reflection of our school values: Unity, Respect and Excellence. It’s not just about the food items, it’s about what they represent: a community coming together to look after each other.

We are so proud of the students who dedicated their time and energy to bring this project to life. Their efforts are a testament to the caring and supportive environment we foster at Charters.

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the parents and carers who have supported the Essential Parcels scheme with donations in previous years, and to Tesco, whose generosity and staff support at both participating stores helped make this Summer's parcels such a success.
