Royal Visit for Students

On Tuesday, a selection of students from Years 7, 8 and 9 were part of the style and swagger of Royal Ascot. After an arduous minibus journey through the all-too familiar backed-up traffic this week brings, our students got to see the royal procession. Millie said that it was "very amazing that we got to see the King and Queen and the Princess Royal."
Given the opportunity to don a jockey outfit, Jay volunteered and modelled the uniform with flair, even getting a snap with the Racecourse's mascot Scotty along the way. Scotty also met our School mascot Waddleton, who was visiting the racecourse too!
To experience the thrill of being a jockey on race day, our students rode a mechanical horse complete with virtual reality headset. "It was really fun to do the virtual horse racing," Maisy told us "...and cool to see the horses run."
The students had a great day, and although it was a hot one they enjoyed the opportunity. Both Cathy and Jayden agreed that the heat hadn't detracted from the event. "It was really hot but really good to go and watch the races, Cathy said with Jayden adding " it was a very good experience."
Thank you to the both our own staff and those at Ascot Racecourse for helping make this day possible.
