Free and Equal Ambassadors Launch First Whole-School Initiative: “What It Means To Be Me”

Following the recent appointment of Charters School’s first cohort of Free and Equal Ambassadors, students have wasted no time in getting to work. Under the guidance of Mr Metson and Ms Grant-Miller, the passionate group of students met this week to begin their very first whole-school initiative: “What It Means To Be Me.”
This thoughtful campaign aims to give every student and member of staff a voice by inviting them to share short videos about their own identities - highlighting their lives, cultures, beliefs, and unique experiences. Charters is a richly diverse school, and the Ambassadors hope that by showcasing the wide range of stories within our community, we can foster greater understanding, respect, and unity.
The initiative reflects the school’s core values and offers a powerful platform for individuals to be seen and heard. The student ambassadors are currently working in small teams to create example videos, which will be shared across the school to encourage participation and inspire others to share their own stories.
“We want everyone to feel proud of who they are,” said one Ambassador. “By listening to each other, we hope our school becomes an even more tolerant and connected place.”
This is just the beginning for the Free and Equal Ambassadors, whose commitment to equality and empathy is already having a positive impact on school life. To learn more about the programme, visit the Free and Equal Ambassadors launch article.
