NETWORKING: YOUR SECRET SUPERPOWER!

Did you know that most opportunities in life don’t come from job ads or chance — they come from people you know? That’s what networking is: building real connections that open doors. Think of it as your superpower for success.

Networking isn’t about collecting contacts. It’s about creating genuine relationships that help you learn, grow, and unlock opportunities — now and in the future.

HOW YOU CAN START - YEAR BY YEAR

  • Year 7 – Get curious! Ask classmates and teachers about their interests. Listening is the first step in networking.
  • Year 8 – Team up. Join a club or activity and connect with people outside your usual circle.
  • Year 9 – Share your passions. Tell others what you enjoy and listen to theirs — you might discover common ground.
  • Year 10 – Practice introductions. Learn how to confidently say who you are and what you’re interested in.
  • Year 11 – Seek mentors. Chat to older students about GCSEs and next steps. Networking = learning from experience.
  • Year 12 – Build professional connections. Attend career talks and ask questions to visiting speakers.
  • Year 13 – Polish your elevator pitch. Be ready to introduce yourself to universities, employers, or mentors in under 30 seconds.

The earlier you start, the stronger your network will be when you need it.
