Charters Celebrates World Environment Day
This week, students at Charters took part in a series of assemblies to mark World Environment Day on 5th June, exploring the importance of climate action and environmental responsibility.
Using stunning images of Earth from space, alongside inspiring messages from Carl Sagan and Sir David Attenborough, students were encouraged to reflect on the fact that we have only one planet and to consider the impact of climate change. The assemblies highlighted key environmental challenges, including rising global temperatures and greenhouse gas emissions, while also celebrating the positive progress being made through renewable energy and global climate initiatives.

Students were encouraged to think about the small changes they can make, from choosing sustainable travel options and reducing energy use to making more environmentally conscious choices in their daily lives.
Charters is also committed to reducing its own environmental impact. Recent initiatives include the installation of motion-sensor lighting to reduce unnecessary energy use, water refill stations to help cut down on single-use plastics, and solar panels to generate clean, renewable energy.
World Environment Day is a valuable opportunity to reflect on how, by working together and making small changes, we can all contribute to a more sustainable future.
After all, we only have one planet Earth.
