GCSE Theatre Trip to Lyric Theatre
This week our GCSE Drama students had an unforgettable experience at the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith where they watched Lost Atoms, a stunning contemporary play that brought classroom learning vividly to life.
Lost Atoms, written by Anna Jordan and brought to life by the acclaimed company Frantic Assembly, tells a powerful and emotional story about love, memory and the twists of relationships. It’s the kind of thought-provoking theatre that stays with you long after the final curtain.
For our students, this wasn’t just a brilliant night out — it was a key part of their GCSE Drama learning. Watching a live performance of this quality helps them deepen their understanding of acting, staging, design and the impact of storytelling in practice. These insights are essential as they work towards their final GCSE examination.
Despite the big city setting, our students showed great maturity and enthusiasm throughout the trip. They reflected thoughtfully on the play’s themes and how professional theatre companies use every tool at their disposal — from movement and lighting to language and emotion — to connect with their audience. Sophie commented that she, "had an AMAZING night! It was really exciting getting to see professionals perform something we study in class. The show was brilliant and the production was excellent."
It is wonderful to see our students so engaged and inspired, and we’re incredibly proud of how our Drama students represented Charters and made the most of this opportunity. Experiences like these are at the heart of what makes learning at Charters so special — combining academic rigour with real-world creativity and cultural enrichment.
Well done to everyone who took part — we can’t wait to see how this experience shapes your writing and your future performances!
We'll leave the last words to Seb who said, "I absolutely loved going to see Lost Atoms - It was a true masterclass in acting, and the production quality was just incredible! Thank you so much to the drama department for taking us all!"
