BBC Newsround Visits Charters School

Students in Year 7 were absolutely thrilled to welcome Newsround presenter Ricky Boleto to their lessons this week, as the BBC reporter visited Charters to film a special segment exploring how young people’s unique experiences and differences are understood and supported at school.
Ricky, along with fellow journalist Esther, joined Isla – one of our inspiring Year 7 students who has a rare genetic condition – and her classmates in both Design Technology and Religious Education lessons. During his visit, Ricky took the opportunity to chat with students, learn more about their projects, and see first-hand the supportive and inclusive environment that makes Charters so special.
Later in the day, Ricky sat down with Isla in the Learning Support Centre (LSC) for a one-to-one interview. The LSC students were delighted to meet him when they joined Isla for lunch afterwards, where Ricky kindly spent time chatting, answering questions, and even signing autographs!
We’re all eagerly looking forward to seeing the finished Newsround feature once it airs. A huge thank you to Isla, her classmates, and all the staff involved for representing Charters School with such warmth, confidence, and pride.
