This week, our newly appointed Careers Lead and Careers Advisor, Mrs. Hicks, has been inspiring students across Years 7–11 with a series of thought-provoking Careers Assemblies. Her sessions have encouraged students to start thinking about their future pathways — and how the choices they make today shape who they will become.

Mrs. Hicks shared some powerful ideas with our students - What you choose, what you think and what you do is who you become.

Finding a successful and satisfying career starts with self-discovery. Ask yourself:

  • What am I good at?
  • What do I love doing?
  • What does the world need?
  • What can I get paid for?

She encouraged everyone to “become a student of yourself” — take time to explore your skills, passions and ambitions to build a future that truly excites you.

Mrs. Hicks also highlighted the importance of curiosity. She suggested asking people around you about their jobs: What do they enjoy? What challenges them? What skills do they use every day? Learning from others can spark new ideas about your own path.

Another key takeaway was about embracing discomfort: “Learn to be more comfortable out of your comfort zone — that’s where the magic happens!”

Finally, she shared the value of resilience and learning from mistakes: “Fail well” — use setbacks as stepping stones for growth.

We’re thrilled to have Mrs. Hicks guiding our students on their journey to discover exciting careers. We encourage parents to continue these conversations at home to help students explore their aspirations even further.
