This week a group of Year 10 students had the opportunity to take part in a residential stay at Jamie's Farm, a charity renowned for its therapeutic programme that helps young people reflect, re-engage and build confidence.

Working in small groups, the students share tasks and responsibilities such as caring for the livestock, tending the crops and cooking meals. The aim is to help them pause, reflect on their behaviours, discover their strengths, and develop renewed self-worth. As the charity states, many children leave better equipped to thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.

Support from The Sunninghill Trust enabled us to subsidise transport, accommodation, and programme costs, ensuring that no student was excluded due to financial barriers. Their backing underscores the importance of community partnerships in making transformative educational experiences accessible to all.

As a school, we are excited about the ripple effect of this trip: the students will leave Jamie’s Farm with clearer goals and renewed motivation, and we anticipate continued positive impact in their relationships, conduct, and engagement in lessons.

Well done to all Year 10 students who took part — it is our hope that this will become a regular opportunity, with long-term benefits.
