NEW FOREST

Well done to the 50 students who completed their Duke of Edinburgh Award practice expedition in the New Forest on May bank holiday weekend.

Our students showed determination to walk for three days carrying everything they needed during this time. They battled blisters, rain and bogs to walk over 50km during the weekend. By the end of the expedition our groups had mastered navigation using a map and compass, whilst also showing unity to work effectively as a team.

Their instructors were especially pleased with their camp craft. Pitching tents independently and cooking all of their meals using Trangia stoves.

The students were a credit to the school and we hope they all go on to complete the assessment expedition in the Wye Valley next month to receive their Silver Awards soon after.

I'm sure the students would join us in saying a massive thank you to Mr Taylor, Miss De'Ath, Mr King, Mrs Kramer and Mrs MacDonnell for all of their hard work during the weekend.
