Happy Birthday Charters

22nd Apr 2024

We celebrated our 66th birthday this week with our annual Unity Day. Students and staff donated funds to dress in mufti and recieived House points if they could wear each of the three colours in our school crest - red, white and blue. The day raised an amazing £2135.66 for our Unity Fund and will be added to the amount we have already raised for the Charters Three Peaks Challenge. Our staff are hoping to raise £10,000 for the Unity Fund by completing the iconic Three Peaks Challenge and set off on 28 June.

As it's our birthday we thought we'd take a trip down memory lane by showing you some images from our 60th birthday celebration back in 2018.

Many of you will remember our then Director of Music, Mike McKenna, taking to the saxophone as Dr Herbert belted out a few tunes during our 60th Anniversary Summer Celebration, where our Guest of Honour was The Duke of Kent.

He can be seen here chatting with students who were part of our Mental Health Awareness inititaive.

We also welcomed back ex-Head Girl & Great British Bake Off contestant Martha Collison, who judged our very own Charters Bake Off. Martha, who is a food writer and baker, reached the quarter-final of the fifth series of Bake Off at the age of 17, while she was still a student at Charters Sixth Form!

Thank you to all the students and staff - past and present - who make Charters School such a very special place. And here's to the next sixty six years of celebrating #Unity #Respect #Excellence in Sunningdale.
