We have always known that our sporting prowess at Charters was special but we were delighted to hear that in a recent survey in School Sports magazine Charters School was ranked 196.  The survey reviewed school sports in all secondary schools across the country, both state and private, and Charters featured in the top 5% of schools for the first time.

The results showed that:  "Reaching the top 30 puts you in the top 1% of the country's state or independent sporting schools, the top 100 puts you in the top 3% while the top 200 puts you in the top 5%. Schools usually have to reach the later stages of at least two, three or four national competitions to make the list"

This puts Charters School in the top 5% of all schools for sport.

Our sporting heritage stems from our days as a specialist Sport & Science School and continues today.  We have already had many sporting successes during the last twelve months including the U15 Boys Football team reaching the quarter Finals of the National Cup and the U19 Boys Football winning the County Cup last spring.  Our U19 Basketball Team were crowned County Champions and in cross country, our Junior Boys team reached the Regional Finals in October.

Our Girls fair equally well in the sporting arena and have had related successes, for example students Molly and Millie passed their Intro into Officiating exams for Netball.

Many of our students compete in sport outside of school and reach outstanding levels of achievement, such as Matilde who has represented England at golf, Demi who represented England in British Dressage and Denis who joined Oxford United FC.

Our students have gone on to represent Great Britain at several Olympic and Paralympic Games, and we even have a gold postbox in Sunningdale representing alumna Sophie Christiansen's three gold medals at the 2012 London Paralympics.

Well done to the PE department and all the young people who take part in the sports clubs and teams we run in school.
