NEWSLETTER - 1 DECEMBER

HIGHLIGHTS

A very busy week in school with eight trips going out this week from A Level emersion work in Economics to Frozen the Musical last night.  Extra Curricular trips are so important to enable individuals to gain a greater understanding of subjects and just as importantly have a good time with their friends.

Sixth Form students continue to get their UCAS forms in as part of the application process for their post-18 next steps.  We are delighted that students are starting to get interviews for medicine and veterinary medicine, in addition to 10 students who have interviews over the next two weeks at colleges at the University of Oxford and Cambridge.  We wish all our students all the best in the application processes they are going through at the moment. You can read more via the news link below.

We are building up towards three big musical events at the end of the term, The Winter Concert, Carol Services and a musical theatre celebration. Thank you to all the staff and students who are working so hard to get these events on.

Thank you to all the families who have been supporting the school with donations to the Wish List, we are very grateful for your support in helping us provide extras that all our students can benefit from.

CHRISTMAS WISH LISTS

Thank you so much to everyone who has already donated to our Wish Lists, the generosity that you have already shown is amazing.

If you haven't done so already and you would like to make a wish come true for one of our departments, please take a look at the list of Wishes.  You can make a donation via CAF Donate, our secure online giving platform, where we can claim an additional 25% on your donation from the Government if you are a UK taxpayer and choose to tick the Gift Aid box. Once you have done this, please email our Marketing Team so that they can order your Wish and deliver to the department in the new year.

Thank you for all your support.

DONATIONS TO FOOD BANK NEEDED

The Student Leadership Team is running a collection for The Trussell Trust and the Charters Essential Parcels initiative all next week.

As a team, they are conscious of the impact that the cost of living crisis has on family budgets in the local community and strongly believe that nobody should go hungry this winter.

The Senior Students will be collecting food between Monday 4 and Friday 8 December. They will be setting up collection boxes each morning from 8.00 am - 8.30 am under the canopy outside The Dining Hall and there will also be a collection station for the Sixth Form in the Common Room before registration each morning.

The collection tubs will be coloured coordinated to correspond to the House colours and students should place donations in their House tub. Each item donated will earn a point for your House so make sure you pick the right tub!  The winning House will be announced at the end of the week.

See full list of suggested donations here.

NEWSFLASH (2)
ROYAL PHILHARMONIC SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA TRIP

A group from the Music department including students from Years 8 to 13 went on a trip to London on Wednesday evening to see the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. There were a wide variety of pieces performed including Sibelius' Violin Concerto and Shostakovich's 9th symphony. The students were impressed by the incredible skill of the performers, one students called their performance "inspirational." I look forward to hearing the students' performance at the Winter Concert next week on Wednesday evening 7pm in the Main Hall. Tickets are available on Parent Pay or on the door for £4.
